Revisiting Memorial Park for Veterans - Nostalgia # 72

Photobucket Last Year, we visited this small park which is dedicated to the service men and veterans  from West Virginia. I told hubby that we should bring Dad in this place because he said that he's never been in that place although it is just  located  in downtown where he lives.

Anyhow, we finally did brought him there last Sunday after we attended Gracie's birthday party in Follansbee.  It's nice to listen  to the two vets talking about their experiences in the service.
I would like to  take as many photos as I can with Dad with us so when  the kids  grow up, they will see it and  remember how they  do  things together with their Pap.
It was a beautiful day.  My FIL said that he sweat walking around the area lol.  Thanks for  going with us Dad!

Remembering 2010's Thanksgiving - Nostalgia # 80

PhotobucketMy Nostalgia this week is uber late so pardon me folks. I was very busy since yesterday so I wasn't able to blog.  I was gonna  blog late last night but then my  PC caught a  virus from the  site that  Ms. Burrito had visited searching for a Wombat.  So be careful in opening links with wombat.

Anyhow, these photos were taken last year's Thanksgiving when my BIL Dave was still around.  We  never had a clue then that the cancer is slowly  eating him up.   Our celebration this year was still  great although we were missing him.
I hope all of you had a good Thanksgiving folks!  Link your fave color  with us.

Personalized Holiday Cards

Hello everyone! As you can see, I changed the theme of my Nostalgic Marveling blog into Travels and Wandering.. and the family's daily adventure. I want to start the 2012 year fresh and with new perspective. Leave all the unpleasant things that happened and move on with new hope, wishes, and goal.

With that being said, I am phasing out the Nostalgia  meme and this entry would be the last one.  I thank all of you who supported this meme all the way to the end.  You may still continue reminiscing the past through other meme with the same theme.   Below are the Personalized Holiday Cards that we sent out to family and friends last year and this year.  I apologize to those  friends whom I sent  regular cards because I ran out wahhh.  I thought, I have limited friends and as it turn out, I still have quite a few.
To thank you all for the wonderful memories we all have had sharing with each other's experiences, I am  giving a little thank you prize to all of you who would  join  this last Nostalgia entry.  The lucky winner will receive a $25.00 thru their paypal account.  This would be a nice juice to start the year for your  paypal.

So what's the catch?  There's none.  All you have to do is ask your friends to vote for your entry by leaving a comment on this post that they are voting for you.  You can leave a link or url at their site pointing to this post in order to vote.  It's very easy to join, just post anything that would remind you of the past Christmas or any experiences you have in the past.  Or you can  share  your thoughts about this meme.

You have until December 31 to collect  votes, the winners will be announced on the first day of 2012.  So  join the last Nostalgia and win $25 to be awarded thru your paypal account.  It's not much as I am not rich like others who giveaway hundreds and hundreds of dollars but one thing for sure, this  comes from my heart.

Santa's Charm - Nostalgia # 82

Santa's charm did not attract Mr. Burrito until this year. The first single photos below were taken last year.  We asked  the two to have a picture with Santa at the mall but Mr. Burrito refused.  He rather posed  with Mr. Bear  than with Santa lol.  Ms. Burrito on the other hand is always   up to it.
We went on the same mall in Steubenville Ohio this year and this time, Mr. Burrito  had the courage  to go in front of Santa, hooray!
Too bad, I did not have my DSLR with me so the photo is a little blurry.  I wasn't allowed to take picture inside the photo setting, so  this is the  farthest I could zoom in my  point and shoot Sony.

Autumn Breeze Nostalgia # 79

Another walk we did at Marland Heights for us to be able to enjoy the Autumn breeze while it lasts.  Of course, I don't go without my camera in handy hehehe.  Using my point and shoot  Sony, we got some cool shots.  The  coat that Mr. Burrito  is wearing was given to him  by her Godparents a couple of years ago and it just fit  him now.

The Angels And Saints Nostalgia # 78

PhotobucketWhen Ms. Burrito was in kindergarten, she chose to wear a saint costumer for All Saints Day celebration. She dressed up as a St. Agnes, the gown she wore was custom tailored by my friend Agnes and the shawl that she used was given by Clang from Japan.
THe kindergarten and first grader are the ones doing the  All Saint's Day dress up so this year, Ms. Burrito decided that she would be an angel.  I bought this costume online.

Please watch out for the giveaway I will be hosting at my Obstacles and Glories blog. IT will be up this Sunday! You are all invited to join.

Oh La La! Nostalgia # 76

PhotobucketOh Lala, the letter for this week is O at ABC Wednesday. Look at Mr. Burrito's OPEN mouth, it's like he was saying "Oh Yeah!" These photos were taken in December 2007 at our humble abode.

Let me share a little piece of me, my maiden name is OpeƱa. Over in the Philippines, your children will use your maiden name as their middle name but here in the States, your maiden name is no longer visible in your children's full name.

Let's jump on saying YES in Filipino language, it's OO in tagalog and the respectful way of saying it to elderly is OPO. Okay enough of my sharing, I hope you learn something hehehe.

Souvenir

A souvenir given by a friend we met in Korea during my husband's last tour in the Navy. His name is Noel, he is a very good friend whom hubby and I are very fond of.  Thanks for being so nice to us Kuya Noel especially to the kids.
He gave us this hand fan from Japan when he attended a function at US Naval Hospital   in Yokosuka.
This is what it looks like in the front side.
You are cordially Nvited to a Nostalgia meme every Thursday in this Nostalgic Marveling blog.
