Potty Training Success and Failures

Rylie started potty training when she's about 8 months old. Whenever she has to poop, she'll grunt and point at the bathroom. She was very good with it but not with urinating.
When she turned 2, I told her that she have to tell me when she has to pee because I won't put diaper on her anymore but it frustrates me because she'll just go on the floor.

It's not until we transferred overseas that she completely stop wearing training pants. She knows how to use the restroom now by herself. She was 28 months old when she finally stop wearing a disposable training pants.
However, I am finding a hard time with EJ though.. He is still using training pants even if he is already 30 months old. I trained him for a week but it just made our carpet smelled like pure urine so we let him use training pants again. Hard on boys I guess!

I am so there with you...my two oldest were so hard to train..my third trained himself at 18 months and my last one hates the toilet, I have been working with him and he does the same as yours cries and cries...oh well, hopefully soon he will start to use the toilet...not buying diapers anymore would be great!!

Yes Tiff, when my daughter finally stop wearing training pants it was a big savings for us every month hehehe.. Thanks for sharing your experience with your lovely ones..

Got 2 nephews, the older Farryl- very difficult to train, he was 3 when he understand how to do it and why. The youngest is easy, Sean is very good at it at 1. Maybe, it depends upon the kid right?;)

Wow! good job naman si Rylie..until now ganyan din si Akesha..she will tell us if she wants to poo but not when peeing..sigh..well, kids will be kids..don't force them...takes time!

oo rose, yun narinig ko sa mga friedns ko na may son, mas madali daw i potty train ang girl kesa sa boy :-), all you have to do is wait and also continue na i train mo siya, si jacob din ganyan sa una ;-), when he is ready, he'll tell you himself ;-);)

hehehe! potty training kasi generally mga 18months, kung ganun ke rylie early un sobra..pero theres no specific time for potty training kasi iba iba sa development ng baby, hehehe but usually mga 18months and up....kasi dame factors like the motor function of the baby, the willingness and the patience of the parents..basta everyone is unique, lol! kaya nga GOD created 36 flavors inde lang vanilla, lol ang gulo ko ah! hehehe! droppin by!!!

Chubskulit Rose said...

>Hi Amy, I agree.. depende nga siguro sa willingness ng bata hehehe.. nasanay kasi ako sa daughter na everything is easy..

>Koerk ka sistah, masyado ko lang inaapura binata ko hehe..

>Siguro nga tCes.. everything is slow with our son kasi, unlike rylie talaga

>dami mo talga spices sun, you sounds like a dad haha... ganyan talaga siguro mga nurses, alam pasikot sikot ng mga bagay bagay hehehe.. thanks..

I found it hard to potty trained of my boy. We bought him a pot when I was month old pregnant, that was because of our excitement. We prepared everything before he arrived.
Before he reach one, we already started potty training him. He did maybe twice but we put his diaper on after he peed. After that short training, he would never use his potty again hehe.

So April of last year we told our little Erik, that we cannot afford to buy a diaper for him. The good thing he was listening but he still don't used his pot but he use the toilet at once.
Now, he is so proud of himself. He go directly to the toilet if he pee and throwing his dirt hehe, but he call us once he done.
In short his pot was only used twice.:)

Yeah, a lot of Moms are telling me that boys are hard to train...

Erik is so funny, its more easy for boys to use the big toilet coz they don't have to sit when they pee.. We have two potties here but my daughter is the only one using them lol.. EJ don't like using it at all..

Good Job!

we keep reminding his parents but ganun pa rin (hayhay)

hirap ba talaga i-rear ang boys? lol

Chubskulit Rose said...

In my experience pchi, yes, its hard to p-train my son at least if compared t my daughter.. But other moms told me that too. So i guess karamihan talaga!

hello rose! sabi ng friends ko na may mga baby na, mas madali raw talaga i-train ang baby girls than the boys. di rin nila alam kung bakit.

okey lang yan. basta ba they are nice kids, diba? and they always bring joy to your heart.

hugs!

ui rose,

oo sabi mas advance ang developmental ng mga girls kesa sa mga boys na karamihan daw eh medyo delay, lalo na sa pagpoptty training, my boys are two different persona kasi yung panganay he was trained by the age of 3 and stop bed wetting by the age of 4 bigla na lang nagsabi na yoko na niyang nappy lol!!, I tried to trained him like at the age of 2 pero walang success so pinabayaan ko na lang tapos ayun bigla na lang siya nagkusa, at hindi din ako gumamit ng potty, naku ayaw ko nga maglinis niyan ano hehehe, lucky ako dun sa panganay ko pero it's a different story with my bunso hay naku... boys will be boys

anyway, it will come.. just be patient and encourage him... stickers did a great job :D

thanks for the info, i am still planning to start a potty train for my little girl, she cant talk yet, shes 20 months old now. Maybe i should wait until shes 2, so she can tell me when shes ready :)

hi Rose.. that is one thing that I have noticed with my two kids. Like you my eldest is a girl and I dont have any trouble potty training her. she learned it at the early age too but with david it took him longer. I mean, i think before he just turned 3 yrs old. just keep on training him every time. he will get in there. only it takes time. boys are a way different from girls.

happy weekend

hiyee c: Nope not hard on boys dear c: Josh was a fast learner :p siguro depende sa bata yan c: Let him take his time c: ang problema ko nga kay Josh e yung pagthumb suck nya :c

you are right, Rose, it is harder to train the boy when it comes to potty training :-); he'll gt there, before you knew it he would just say, i don't want to wear diaper, Mommy.

Jake was like that before!

It's okay hon, in time, he will decide to do it.. in his own time hehehe..

Every child develops potty training for their own and they've developed differently according to their characters.

your kids are adorable, nice that there are kids that potty trains very early.

Franc said...

Great job by Rylie and I'm sure EJ would get the hang of it soon.

Marie said...

I think boys take a longer time to potty train. My son when he was 3 years old used to insist to put on his trainers whenever he is ready to poop naman (no problem with the peeing part). Yung diaper daw CR nya !
