How to Quickly Adjust to Time Changes When Traveling

Now that you’ve planned that big trip abroad and the day has almost arrived, it’s time to let the excitement settle in. Perhaps you’re heading out as a graduation gift after earning your online doctor of education, or maybe it’s a mid-semester break that you’ve booked. Of course, you want to make the most of the trip, which means you need to be able to adjust to the new time zone immediately. The last thing you want to do is spend the first couple days walking around jet-lagged and missing out on all the fun.
The good news is that there are some tips you can make use of that will help you adjust to time changes faster and easier. Here’s a closer look.

Start to Adjust Before You Leave

One tip that travelers don’t often think about is that you can start to adjust your body before youeven leave. Over the course of a week or so, you can gradually start to adjust your sleep and meal times. Obviously if you are dealing with a huge time change you can’t make that kind of adjustment at home, but even just a couple of hours will help.
This is also a good tip to use when you come home. Instead of jumping right back into your home time zone, gradually adjust over a couple of days by playing with meal and sleep times.

Pick Up Some Melatonin

If your first impulse is to pick up some sleeping pills, then you may want to think again. Instead you can use a natural solution that works the same way. Pick up some Melatonin and then take it a few hours before it is time to go to bed. It will help to relax your mind and body allowing you to fall asleep easier and faster. You may even choose to take this during your full trip to ensure you are able to sleep well and get enough rest.

Keep Naps in Check

Once you arrive it’s perfectly normal to want to nap. While napping isn’t necessarily a bad thing, you want to be sure you don’t go overboard. You still want to be tired enough to sleep at bedtime. It is recommended you don’t nap for longer than two hours, that it isn’t too close to bedtime, and you don’t nap multiple times in a day.

Keep Yourself Hydrated

It's hard enough to adjust to a new time zone without outside factors, so this is why it's important to stay hydrated. Once you allow your body to become dehydrated you will feel sluggish and sleepy. Be sure to drink plenty of water and keep the coffee and alcohol in check.

Making the Most of Your Trip

Thanks to these tips you’ll be able to arrive in the destination, quickly adjust to the different time zone, and get on with enjoying your trip. Your break from your online EDD program should be everything you dreamed of and then some.

Outdoor Fun During Winter

The weather is getting intense as day  goes by.  I am not very fond of Winter because my body is always cold and I can't  stay very long outside no matter how bundled my body is with thick clothing.  I came from the tropics where  warm weather is all-year round so Winter is not really my  kind of season.  However, I love watching my  children   play in the snow.  They were off yesterday so they took the opportunity to play outside while the snow  keeps coming.
I took some photos of them before they went sled riding at the hill over our neighbor's yard.  I  spent  shoveling snow out of our drive way.  We have a long  drive way which I love but man, it's a pain in the tosh during Winter.  I need a snow blower to make this job easier lol.
My husband told me that we should get a snow blower but I told him that I can do the shoveling since I need  an exercise anyway.  I will keep that promise but maybe next year, I will let him buy a snow blower lol.
My hands are  always the ones that gets cold very quickly.  No matter how thick my gloves are, they still get freezing!  My husband's hands are always warm  so I always put my hands on his but when he is not around, it's tough!
These kiddos does not mind the cold.  They would stay outside as long as they can take it.  Sometimes, I forced them to get inside  so they won't get sick.  Yesterday, their faces was so red from being outside.
Hot coco is always great to serve them after an outdoor  fun.  They have a two-hour delay today so I got the chance to sit down and publish a couple of posts before I prepare their breakfast and lunches.

Advance Merry Christmas everybody!

Caring For Pets As A First Time Owner

If you're considering getting a pet, then it's important to make sure that you are able to care for them and that you know the best way to care for them.

Just like people,  not all animals are the same,  but they do need certain levels of care that we would also expect for ourselves.

Of course they need lots of love and attention, and also training, so if you live somewhere where you have to travel a lot for work, or you can't get back to them early in the day to take them out for lots of exercise and fresh air, then maybe it's best actually not to get a pet at the moment because if your lifestyle doesn't accommodate pets, then it's really not fair to them or to you.

If you know that you're ready for a pet and that you're able to take care of it the way that it needs,  then here are some ways that you can you make sure that you have the best experience with your pets and that they get all the loving care they need, so they will give you all the rewards of having a pet as part of your family.

plenty of food and water.

just like humans, cats and dogs and other pets all need to be fed and watered. Whilst we need good food and exercise,  they also need to eat healthy.  Almost dogs will try to eat anything, but there's a few things that are completely off bounds for them, such as cheese, chocolate and grapes.  These  can be very dangerous for dogs, and can cause serious health problems, and even result in death,  but even if your dog is making  puppy eyes at you and making you feel sorry for them,  please keep in mind that your dog's health always comes first, and then just as you would with a child, it's your responsibility to look after them and make sure they're safe. Try to purchase good quality food for your dog, and the odd treats here and there are fine. If you do want to give them chocolate, then you can also purchase pet chocolate at the pet store.

plenty of exercise.

again just as humans do,  animals also need plenty of exercise to stay fit and healthy, So if you can make sure that you can take them for a walk at least twice per day, and if you can, also let them run around in any garden that you have.

love and affection.

having pets can be very rewarding, and it's also good to show them that you love them.  They will be very loyal to you, and will love you a lot, so it makes sense that you would love them in return, and if not, then why would you even bother having them? Plenty of cuddles and clapping is usually good enough for pets. They want to be played with but they're not overly demanding. they just want to know that they are secure and that they feel loved.

health check ups.

just like humans do, animals can get sick, and they also need to be checked out regularly to ensure that there is nothing causing them any pain or distress, and if there is something that is underlying, then you can get it checked out and treated before it causes any serious problems.  Cats and dogs can suffer from fleas and things like worms, so speak to your vet about these, and ask about places where you can get wormers for cats and dogs.

comfortable place to sleep.
all animals are relatively low maintenance when it comes to where they sleep in comparison to humans. They also want to be comfortable just like we do, so you don't have to go over the top to ensure your dog and cat have a nice firm blanket or cushion to sleep on and that their sleeping area is kept clean.

Music in Christmas Parade

We  failed to watch the Christmas parade this year.  We planned on doing that as we had fun ,watching the one last year but my husband was sick so we didn't get to see it this year.  Oh well, I would have loved to see someone playing a selmer alto saxophone again but maybe next year, we will have  a better luck.  The photos below was taken two years ago.  We definitely missed out  fun, the beautiful  displays and the  Christmas music.

Tappan Lake Park: Summer 2016 Part 1.

Man oh man, where did the time go?  I have  so many things to write about and they are slowly getting buried in the pile. This year has been the busiest for us so I haven't been blogging  as much as I would like to.  As a result, a lot of our family activities remains in pictures and doesn't get  get published in my blog.  Hopefully I could  catch up\  but the problem of that is, sometimes it is hard to go back to the same excitement or emotion when we did the   trip or event.
Anyway, this is one of those trips that we did over the weekend to take the kids somewhere we have never been to before they go back to school.  My husband's co worker  told us about the Tappan Lake park.  Hubby and I knew about the Tappan lake but we didn't know that there is a big park you can go to for family recreation.
The park is in the middle of nowhere, thank God for  the GPS, finding it was easier.
We were surprise of how beautiful it was there.  Since it was a state park, we only had to pay  for a vehicle  entrance which is $5 ir ten, I can't even remember anymore how much we paid lol.  It was all worth the drive because the kids had so much fun although the water was a bit cold.
There were so many people out there and I like the fact that they have this floating   thing for the kids to jump on and have fun with.
The place is very clean although the restrooms does not have  tissue papers but it was still clean.
I think you can  rent a boat but I wasn't sure.  A lot of people have  their own boats I am guessing but who knows.
As the kids were enjoying the water, there was a  woman with two kids who sat  in front of us.  She would not let her kids go to the water which I thought was odd.  I mean, why take the kids there (they were  even  in their swim suits) and not let them enjoy the water?  For me, it was kind of a torture for the kids to see a lot of children  enjoying the water and they couldn't.  The  older  child was screaming so the woman was screaming at her, I feel bad and felt very uncomfortable.  I also feel bad that the woman bought herself an ice cream and she  told the kids they can't have any.  I felt so bad for those kids.  I was  nearly tempted to offer  our fruits to the kids but my husband told me not to because the woman might turn her  anger at me.  I told my husband that I had to walk  away or else I might do something that I might regret,  so that's what I did.  I really can't understand how people can be so cruel or mean with children.  That is not something we want our future generation to grew up into.  I am still thinking about those kids till this day.  I'm still wondering if I could have did something  to make those kids a little better.  I wonder if walking away was the best I could have done.  I don't know.
Situations  like what I have stated above, makes me want to love my children even more.  I am thankful that they could enjoy little things in life through my husband and I's effort.
Sometimes, the best things we could give our kids is the freedom  for them to be kids.  To enjoy the things that children love.  It may be as simple as digging dirt or playing in the sand, we should let them be kids any chance they have.  Time flies very fast and happy childhood memories help them grow better human beings.
While I am writing this, I can still feel the uneasy feeling I had thinking about those children.
Moving on, the said park  has  lifeguards on duty too which is very important because there were so many kids  playing in the flowing play area.  There is a rest  period  that they imposed where children has to  be on the shore.
I am very fortunate to have  children who love nature, who  obey rules and love to be around us.  I think it is very important for every parent to spend as much time as they can with their kids while they are still young.
I am grateful that my husband  love to be around with our  children.  Not all men has that trait.
Looking at my children gives me hope that they will be okay when my husband and I are gone.  I think they will be okay.
We will continue to provide them  what they need and guide them every step of the way.
I do hope that we would live long enough to see them succeed and be happy of what they  do in life.  I always pray that they would grow to be independent, strong, and happy individuals.

It's been..
