Our #Roadtrip to #GrandCanyon Part 1

During our Las Vegas  vacation in August, we decided to do a road trip from there to see the majestic Grand Canyon on the day of our 14th wedding anniversary.  It was a long drive but we all enjoyed every minute of it.
We Were going to  do a tour but decided to just drive there ourselves.  It's  cheaper and we can do the roadtrip without the pressure of time.   That  day was one of the many best  ways we have celebrated our anniversary.

On our way there, we stopped at  the first  overlook designated for tourists who wants to see the view.  We left  really early at the hotel after we ate breakfast so we can get on the road and get back to Vegas before dark.

We used the rental car that we have  which scared my husband  as he was not used to driving a Hyundai Accent.  That vehicle has a problem with air con keeping up with heat outside.  IT also has a severe delay in response, my husband has to press the gas pedal to the floor  to get a response which delayed 3-4 seconds.  It was really an issue driving it around Vegas area  especially when the traffic is intense.  My husband can't help but say some "sweet" words in frustration.  I gotta say though, it was  great on gas mileage.

Other than the  vehicle, our trip went smooth and enjoyable.
Being used to  mountains with a lot of trees, driving from Las Vegas to Arizona  makes me really  thankful and appreciative of our lush greens in our state.  For some reason, even though I enjoy  seeing the  different rock and boulder formation, it makes me feel down a little bit not seeing vegetation there.  I mean, we  passed by some occasional dessert plants but not as much as I  hoped I would see.
Anyway, as we are nearing the Grand Canyon, the vegetation is somehow getting visible.  I hope you enjoy the following scenic desert-like views.

If I would have to do a road trip again from Vegas to Arizona, I would probably opt to do it in the Fall or early Spring so that the weather ain't too hot.  We did it when it was too hot which made it so exhausting.  It's all worth it though because  the Grand Canyon is just amazing.  Please tune in for the next part of this post.  Thanks for visiting and leaving your thoughts.

What a wonderful experience! I wouldn't mind going on a family road trip like this. There aren't any landscapes quite like that on the East coast.
