Plum Picking

Hello everyone, how's did your Saturday go? Ours was busy, hubby mowed the grass this morning and me and the kids swept the grass on the sidewalk. Then we visited Jen down at Follansbee and stayed there for about 3-4 hours. The kids had so much.

Anyhow, here are the photos of our last week's fruit picking escapade. I mentioned in my other blogs that we went plum picking at my friend Raquel's backyard last Saturday. We dropped by at my FIl before we proceeded at Raquel's house. Here are the plum pickers, having fun and acting silly lol.

We went there first because my SIL waited for Jen to arrive. Raquel and Tom helped the kids picked the high part of the tree. Too bad my husband missed the fun, he stayed at Dad's and talked to him while we pick some juicy plums.

See how loaded that was? I just wish that this is in the Philippines as there are so many kids that would enjoy this.
Jen climed the tree because the ladder wasn't enough to reach the fruits lol.

I only picked two small baskets for eating, my SIL and niece picked most of the fruits and made it into jam and jelly. Thanks for the two jars that you gave us Jen. I learned one interesting fact about plum. Tom told us that plum doesn't bear fruit every year, it is only 3-4 years. Thanks Brady Bunch for inviting us to pick your plums, we had a blast.

Hala! Ganyan pala ang hitsura ng puno ng plum? Parang star apple or kaimito den ano? As in hitik na hitik sa hinog na bunga.

Plum jam and jelly? Yum!

The only time I got to taste plum was when I ate a prune. How come I can't see fresh plums here? :(

I wish I could pick plums off trees here in northern Canada!

It made me smile to see the kids wearing the baskets with hats because you know that most kids (and my husband) would do that first thing!

Nice to meet you. Keep smiling.

Plums? That is great! I've never picked plums before (maybe I'm too sheltered?) We've gone strawberry & apple picking...and of course raspberry & blackberry picking when we are out walking on trails. Looks like the kids had a great time!!!

I heard about plum pudding before pero hindi pa ako nakakatikim nuon. Ang gaganda naman nang mga kuha ninyo habang nagkakatuwaan kayo sa pamimitas nang plums. Thanks for the joyous post. God bless you all always.

Looks like a lot of fun.. I drooled at the sight of the plums.

You mentioned in my blog that my kids look like they get along well. All I can say is that they have their moments too. They also irritate each other and the teenager gets provoked by the naughty boy. I'm sure your kids will grow up loving each other but the disagreements will always be there.

Have a great week ahead.

Good thing your plums turned out great! Ours went bad as we didn't use any spray to get rid of the worms. Too bad as it tasted good though! Maybe next year again. :) Great photos mommy!

I've tasted a plum too coz of curiousness. It has a different taste, can't compare it to other Filipino fruits though. You're right, if only it grows in Philippines, lots of kids would've enjoy it.
