The land of the Morning Calm

We have been in Korea for one year and 5 months now and I can truly say that we like it a lot. The Koreans are very nice and friendly. They seem to be so interested with foreigners because whenever we're walking around town, most of the crowd are stopping by and talk to our kids and touch their faces (though we don't know what they're saying).

One of the most aspect that attracted me the most in this country is their love of flowers. There's flower everywhere you go, it makes the environment so inviting and attractive. The only thing that's concerns us is the language barrier. It is very hard to learn their language and they barely speak English, we find it hard to shop. It's interesting that when you go to a shopping mall, you have to buy your own plastic bag or else they'll just give you the merchandise without it.

Changwon house As a house occupied by Toeeun Ducheol, the 5th generation descendant of Sunheung Ahn family in approximately 100 years ago (1898, the 2nd year of Gwangmu), House of Changwon has been newly refurbished to prevent destruction of the traditional and unique housings of Korea, which are gradually disappearing from city centers due to establishment of Changwon Industrial Complex and new town development project, etc. Therefore, it has been aimed at educating the traditional cultures and customs of ancestors to the young people. On the area of 3,088 pyeong, 14 buildings have been constructed to exhibit agricultural farming tools used by the ancestors. House of Changwon is not only being used as the place of wholesome rest by citizens, but also used for the site of traditional wedding for free of charge. Traditional Korean costume called hanbok. Represents one of the most visible aspects of Korean culture. The top part called a jeogori is blouse-like with long sleeves with the men's version being longer, stretching down to the waist. Women wear skirts (chima) while men wear baggy pants (paji). Commoners wore white, except during festivals and special occasions such as weddings. Clothes for the upper classes were made of bright colors and indicated the wearer's social status. Various accessories such as foot gear, jewelry, and headdresses or hair pins completed the outfit. (Source: http://www.lifeinkorea.com/Culture/Clothes/)clothes.cfm

i was shocked about the plastic bag when i was new here.,,you need to bring your own shopping bag and you are the bagger to your own grocery...they just scan it...tapos na walang bagger!

in cagayan de oro nga pala, we have a store like that, buyers provide their own bags or buy it at the counter...d2 sa Florida, BJ's and Aldi do the same...kami, pag few pieces lang binili, we hand carry it...others do it anyway...hehehe

I have met some Koreans and found them to be extremely polite and friendly. Those here in India are also extremely hard working. They are truly role models to our work forces here.

I have always wanted to go to Korea, but so far have not. You are indeed very lucky.:)

Hi I stumbled your website from someone and thought of reading some of your posts here... andyan pala kayo sa Korea... I like korean people din, they are polite and friendly... it has been 2 years since I have watched their drama series and so far I love it so much. Some of their actions remind me of filipinos, some of sleep together just like sa pinas din.. I miss it so much... I have learn a little bit sa language nila dahil almost every day ako nagwawatch nang drama nila... with english sub.. I know that they love foreigners especially to small kids dahil nagagandahan cla sa mga bata nang bata lalo na pag anak nang puti, they will play and talk to them and even take pictures kong may digital cam clang dala dala.. I have encountered it several times especially nung we laid over sa Incheon aiport to pinas then on the way back then. Oh yeah I hope you can visit my site sometimes.. my name is Dauphine pala! Hope to hear from you though. Take care and hi to the kiddos!

Hi Rose thanks for your response and comment sa blog ko.. Pareho talaga tayo buhay nang isang ina sa kanyang mga anak haha.. ano ba'yan! Anyways, if you would to add more links you should keep the bravejournal members into "manage friends" and to non-brave' members go to manage link... kaya you're almost run out of space diba? Kaya lang may limit cla sa non-brave' members which up to 25 links ata. Pero sa manage links parang walang limit para sa mga members nito.. Naka add ako nang marami sa manage links dahil nag update ako for 6.99 dollars a month which I subscribed for a year. Hininto ko narin. I-add ko tong blog mo ha, then please add me na din.. I also have other blog which is this one http://othersideofme.info/. It is okay to just add it up sa blogspot mo dahil unlimited naman ang space nila at i add ko din yong sayo.. Ano pala tong comment ko last night, nagkabaliktad haha.. I mean yong mga koreans nagagandahan cla sa mga mata nang bata.. big and round daw, gusto din nila nang magkaroon nang ganon kaya lang squinty ang sa kanila eh LOL! Anyways nice meeting you again. Hope to hear from you again.

Ganda ng view ng korea Rose. How I wish makarating din ako diyan pero parang impossible yata hehe.
Mag day dreaming nalang ako hehe.

Nice and clean talaga sa korea tsang bakla, sana makarating din ako diyan ano.
Ihave been to japan and it was clean too, they respect treesand they also have nice flowers.

Particularly beautifully written posts on your site. I came across these trying to find a fix to a different issue and sort of lost track of time. I hope you'll persist in putting up fantastic articles for everyone to read!
